Common Electrical Problems

Common Domestic Electrical Problems

Electricity Tripping Out

Do not make the mistake of constantly resetting your circuit breakers; our electrical engineers are experts in your fault finding and diagnosis. If a circuit often trips it could be the sign of faulty wiring or accessory (socket or switch) or even an issue with an appliance that may be causing a fault in your circuit.

Flickering Lights and Blown Bulbs

Flickering lights can be a sign of faulty wiring or loose connection issues. Do your lamps repeatedly blow? We find that the most common cause for this is as a result of using cheap supermarket lamps.  Karen & her electricians always use quality lamps from a branded manufacturer.

Light Switches or Sockets That Give a Small Electric Shock

If you receive a shock of any size from metal switches or sockets then call us immediately. It may be a sign of serious earthing issues.

Sparking Sockets or Switches

If you ever notice a spark when switching on a switch or a socket then it may be an early sign of a worn socket or switch (accessory) and if left unchecked can lead to an electric shock or even become a fire hazard.

Smell of Burning

A burning smell could be a sign of the start of an electrical fire. In the instance that an electrical accessory starts to overheat it will give off a distinctive and slightly fishy smell. If you ever think you might have an issue and can smell burning we cannot emphasise enough how important it is to switch off your electrics at the consumer unit and contact Bright Spark immediately..

Outdated Electrics

Several homes in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Crowborough and the surrounding Kent and Sussex area were built over 100 years ago. Bearing this in mind, many of the electrics that come with the properties will be decades old. Due to these electrics being outdated, often a full rewire of the house will be necessary and replacement sockets may also be vital in order to ensure safety in the properties.

NICEIC Approved Domestic Installers

As NICEIC approved Domestic Installers, you will find that all of our work conforms to British Standard 7671 (The Wiring Regulations) and is Part P compliant. Where certification is required, all testing and certification is included in our fixed quotes and is not subject to additional hidden charges.

This company was recommended by some people on the Nextdoor website. I wanted new lights installed in my kitchen, dining room and conservatory. Karen got back to me within minutes of my email and both Electricians proved to be efficient, friendly and tidy workmen. I will be keeping their business card handy for future use.

Jacqueline, Penshurst

Thank you for attending my “Emergency Call out” there was smoke coming out of my socket. I telephoned at least 15 electricians after 7:15pm (in the evening) when we discovered the smoke coming out of the Socket. Their phones not even being answered. The next on my list was Bright Sparks, who were the only ones to answer the call - literally within a couple of rings, and was answered by a lovely lady who reassured me that help would be on the way. The Call was sent to your emergency electrician who called back within 15 minutes, and was able to attend within the hour, and fix the problem. Thank you. Excellent Service

Ben - Tunbridge Wells
